Activities in the Livingston/Big Timber Area
Activities surrounding the wedding will take place in the Livingston area. If you find yourself with some free time, we recommend checking out our favorite spots.
EVENTS
WEDNESDAY, 9/17: Check out the last Livingston Farmers Market of the season. **Ben & Shelby will not be here, but check it out if you are in the area!
THURSDAY, 9/18: Starting at 5:30 PM, join Ben and Shelby at Moshi food truck/Neptune’s Brewery (Location: 119 North L Street, Livingston, MT 59047). We will be on the patio. Food and drinks are on your own. Moshi & Neptune’s close at 8 PM.
FRIDAY, 9/19 - POTLUCK WELCOME PARTY: Starting at 4 PM, please join us at the Pine Creek Pavilion, group site #28 (Pine Creek Campground) for a potluck-style welcome party. The welcome party will wrap up around 7 PM (sunset is at 7:25 PM). Look up directions in advance—cell service is spotty.

Bring enough to serve ~10 people
We don't know how many people will show, so be prepared to carpool if you can
No electricity on site (so no crock pots)
Charcoal grill available — bring your own supplies if you’d like to use it
BYOB
Whether it’s a main dish, side, or dessert, your contribution will help make this a delicious and fun evening together
SATURDAY, 9/20 - WEDDING DAY: Ben & Shelby get hitched! See you at 3 PM at the Melville Lutheran Church for the ceremony. The reception is roughly 3 miles away at Homestead 191 (barn next to Cafe 191). Please ensure you GPS directions to the ceremony & reception in advance—cell service is spotty.
SUNDAY, 9/21: On to the next adventure.
EAT & DRINK
MELVILLE: Cafe 191 (next to the reception venue) will be open for regular business hours, including for breakfast on Sunday, September 21.
BIG TIMBER: We love stopping at the Big Timber Bakery for breakfast, and The Grand Hotel & Restaurant for dinner.
LIVINGSTON: Our favorite evenings consist of grabbing a beer at Neptune’s Brewery and sitting down to a warm meal from Moshi Food Truck (located on Neptune’s patio). If we feel like celebrating, we’ll belly up to the bar at Campione, which has award-winning food (get a reservation in advance).
HIKE & PLAY
BIG TIMBER/MELVILLE: Take it easy and enjoy the bridge and waterfall close to the Halfmoon Campground in the Crazy Mountains. If you’re feeling adventurous, check out Blue Lake (7.5 miles out & back) & Twin Lakes (8.5 miles out & back)—these two lakes are located up the Big Timber Creek drainage, the same trailhead as the Halfmoon Campground.
LIVINGSTON: Myer’s River View Trail is Pancake’s favorite place to go for a walk (1.5 miles out & back). Sacajawea Park is also a nice family-friendly spot with trails & playground.
PARADISE VALLEY: Pine Creek Falls (3 miles out & back), and Pine Creek Lake (9.5 miles out & back) are stunning.
RELAX
Relax in the Yellowstone Hot Springs (49 miles north of Livingston, close to the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park) and take advantage of the “cold” pool while you’re there.
If you’re in the mood for a cocktail while you soak, check out Chico Hot Springs. Grab a burger at the saloon and play a round of shuffleboard while you’re there.
YELLOWSTONE RIVER
Float the Yellowstone River on a raft or inflatable kayak with boat rentals from Rubber Ducky River Rentals in Livingston. You can also just enjoy the river at one of many river access points—we like the Sheep Mountain Fishing Access, and the Jim Posewitz Free River Fishing Access Site.
